Germany installed around 905 MW of new solar capacity in June 2025, bringing the country’s total additions for the first half of the year to more than 7.1 GW, according to data from the Federal Network Agency (Bundesnetzagentur).

The June figure marks a decline from 1,146 MW in May and 1,449 MW in June 2024. Of the new installations in June, rooftop solar systems accounted for 439 MW, while ground-mounted projects contributed 319 MW. The remainder came from other installation types.
In total, Germany’s solar market added around 7.1 GW during the first six months of 2025, down from approximately 8 GW in the same period last year.
Before the Solar Acceleration Act (Solarspitzen-Gesetz) came into force in March, more than 3.23 GW of capacity had already been connected to the grid in January and February. The legislation stipulates that solar system operators will not receive compensation during periods when day-ahead market electricity prices turn negative. In the first half of 2025, such conditions occurred for 389 hours.
As of June 2025, Germany’s total installed solar capacity has reached 107.37 GW, reaffirming its position as one of Europe’s leading solar markets.
